The Prime Minister must have many regrets about the decisions she has made over the past few months but none so much as the pact she made with the DUP.
Those with any sense knew it would end up in tears but few thought those 10 DUP MPs would hold so much power, few knew that one day they and they alone would hold the rest of us to ransom and the EU.
The question on so many minds tonight is, will the PM sacrifice NI for a deal with the EU or will she just try to shake the magic money tree again. The problem though is the DUP are not likely to change their minds. Unionism is in their DNA. Let us not forget NI as a Devolved Country voted to remain in the EU but the DUP is the ruling Party and the blood that runs through their veins is true Blue.
This is the Party of the late Ian Paisley the party of the Orange Lodge who still have within it a militant faction, one which made no bones about bringing violence to the streets of Scotland should it become Independent.
There are a number of outcomes from this present scenario that have the potential for the return of violence and nearly every scenario could hasten the demise of Theresa May.
I personally have no problem with the PMs plan because it would open up possibilities for other parts of the Union and Gibraltar. It is perhaps the most sensible plan she has come up with yet.
So far she has had to capitulate on every single matter…..not exactly the ‘ strong and stable ‘ Government we were promised…….but hey ….what’s a promise when it comes from the Tories?
On top of all that we have Tony Blair putting his big feet into the mix. Brexit should be cancelled because it was built on lies…….tell that to Iraq and the thousands who died because of a lie.
Well one thing is for sure, we are in for an interesting week of Politics and panic in certain quarters!
