Do you not know your place? Do you somehow think that your views count in the Grand scheme of things?
Whatever might have been said, you are most certainly not a valued partner.
After all that has been said these past few years, let us be absolutely certain that none of the platitudes and promises and vows were even partially meant, and if you haven’t yet twigged onto that, I am not sure where your head has been?
Let me take 2 quotes from an article written today, which I will link to later on.
The first of these quotes says ” nationalists and unionists “are not equals”.
“politically it means nationalism is a minority political force.”
An earlier view from this Lord at the time of the Independence Referendum called for Scotland to be re-partitioned in the event of a vote for independence.
Now before some of you start spitting nails, I had best spill the beans. These quotes were taken from an article in the Irish News and they are with regards to comments made by the former UUP leader ad MP in Westmonster and now a Lord, John Taylor or Lord Kilclooney in relation to the ongoing disputes between the Ulster Unionist parties and the Irish Nationalist parties in Northern Ireland.
Nevertheless, I feel that other than his previously unwanted intervention into our affairs here in Scotland there is a certain relevance to what he has said with regards to this article in Ireland to us too.
It is an entirely different context sure, but the attitude, harsh as it might be, Is one that is prevalent among Unionists on this side of the water, and unpalatable as that attitude is which he expresses, It is at least more honest and direct than the language used by our own Unionists.
I might not agree with him, I might not like what he says, or what he stands for, but at least he is up front with it. There is no weasel words from the likes of him pretending to be somehow on the side of what I believe in, or of being like his Scottish counterparts Proud Scots, or blandishments of Scotland being a valued partner in the Union. All the while smiling and having photo ops proving how Scottish they are, when they do not actually think that or believe that.
It is not for the likes of him to put Northern Ireland down at every opportunity, no he talks it up, but only as part of the Greater Union. Our lot cannot help but be absolutely besides themselves with glee at every piece of bad news they can find about Scotland.
And for every piece of good news, they will either attempt to discredit it or claim that It could only be because of the good will of the Union.
Our lot are beyond the pale, using every underhanded device they can find to undermine Scotland with the complicity of our press and media. They will stoke up division, encourage sectarianism and racism, and pretend when their more dim minded followers chant racist and sectarian slogans that it is none of their doing. They will tut tut at racially aggravated assault and pretend that they have not encouraged it by their use of language.
Give me an honest bigot any day, at least there is no doubt where they stand, but the bigot who pretends that they are not, while all the while stoking up bigotry through underhand means and pretending otherwise is an even more despicable creature altogether…. and unfortunately in Scotland we have our share of them!
